🚩 Recommended Itinerary

1. Puerto Montt → Puerto Varas (20 min, 20 km)

Start early from Puerto Montt and head to Puerto Varas, a charming lakeside town known for its German-inspired architecture, great coffee, and panoramic views of Volcán Osorno.

Stop for breakfast at Café Mawen or grab fresh bread from a local panadería.

2. Puerto Varas → Frutillar (35 min, 30 km)

Follow the scenic lakeshore road to Frutillar, famous for its wooden pier and the Teatro del Lago.

Take time to walk the lakefront, visit the German Colonial Museum, and enjoy a küchen (German-style cake).

3. Frutillar → Llanquihue → Ensenada (1 hr 15 min, 65 km)

Continue through Llanquihue and head east to Ensenada, at the base of the volcano. This stretch gives you epic views and direct access to nature.

Stop by the Saltos del Petrohué waterfalls and Todos los Santos Lake for photos and short hikes.

4. Optional Detour: Volcán Osorno (add 45 min return)

If you have time, take the mountain road up to Osorno Volcano Ski Center. The views are surreal even if you don’t ski.

5. Return to Puerto Montt via Route V-69 (1 hr 30 min, 75 km)

Complete the loop through the lush forests and quiet backroads. Fill up on fuel before leaving Ensenada as stations can be limited on this final leg.
